Australia’s food and agriculture sector is focussing more on exporting high value sustainable, authentic, healthy, high quality and consistent products. Digital technology and other advanced technologies will be central to enabling this across the agri-food supply chain.

Industry 4.0 (I4.0) and the industrial internet of things (IIoT) are transforming farming and food manufacturing via highly interconnected and networked operations. Sensors, simulations, artificial intelligence–based autonomous systems, and cloud systems are some of the many technologies associated with IIoT and I4.0. The potential benefits include gains in efficiency, sustainability, flexibility, agility, and resilience along the whole supply chain.
