Shaping the future at CEBIT 2019

CEBIT Australia took place at Sydney’s International Convention Centre this week.

Running between 29 and 31 October, CEBIT 2019 featured over 200 expert speakers. They delivered keynote presentations, panel discussions, workshops and lightning talks.

Among these sessions was ‘How next generation AI and robots can disrupt supply chains – A story about the Australian dairy industry’, which questioned the dairy industry’s current model and the small price consumers pay milk. The Startup Business Founder and Chief Executive Officer Ross McKenzie asked attendees to look at dairy products in a different manner, and to consider how AI and robots could play a greater role in achieving a fairer and more sustainable industry.

In another session, ‘Infratech 4.0: The power of the digital twin’, GHD Digital Australian Digital Leader Colin Dominish used case studies – such as the FitBit – to demonstrate how digital twins can be a fundamental part of one’s operations. Mr Dominish said that digital twins enable people to easily find, use, share and re-use trusted data in order to improve decision making and outcomes for a project, asset or organisation. He advised the audience to realise the value of your data and the outcomes it can enable.

Together, they showcased the Open IIoT demo unit which demonstrated an Industry 4.0 implementation example which used robotics, sensors and cloud collaboration.
